Silvo Plus is an Australian agricultural business working with farmers, landholders, and investors to trial pongamia and other drought-resilient crops in grazing systems. Our goal is to build productive, low-input farming models that strengthen regional economies and supply feedstocks for future sustainable fuel industries.

OUR AIMS

3
Apply advanced genetics for drought-resilient crop systems including pongamia, with the intention of enabling low-input feedstock production tailored to Australia's regions.
Develop, refine and scale a capital-efficient silvopasture blueprint that may improve productivity and profitability of marginal lands by integrating horticulture with pastoral operations.

1
Create new economic opportunities in regional Australia by targeting long-term demand for oil and ethanol-based bio-fuel feedstocks.

ABOUT SILVO PLUS

Silvo Plus was established to explore practical, scalable and innovative ways to strengthen drought resilience and unlock new low-carbon markets for Australian agriculture.

We work at the intersection of agtech, sustainable farming, and regional innovation — trialling climate-resilient crops such as pongamia across Australia.

By combining advanced genetics, smart irrigation, and digital monitoring, we intend to trial how these systems can diversify grazing enterprises, restore landscapes, and be at the forefront of the world’s growing biofuel markets.

Our goal is to build practical, evidence-based pathways that enable landholders to improve productivity, reduce risk, and participate in Australia’s transition to a low-emissions future, all while strengthening the resilience of regional communities.

Our mission is to accelerate the adoption of climate-resilient, capital-efficient crop systems that seek to enhance the profitability and sustainability of drought-prone landscapes, while offering an innovative and sustainable pathway for global transport sectors to decarbonise.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Australia’s increasing drought risk threatens agricultural productivity, groundcover, and regional economic stability. At the same time, the global aviation sector faces one of the most complex decarbonisation challenges of any industry. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) estimates that sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) will need to supply around 65% of aviation’s emissions reductions by 2050, creating a market demand exceeding 450 billion litres per year.

Australia currently imports almost all of its transport fuels, including jet fuel. Building a domestic SAF supply chain is therefore both a decarbonisation opportunity and a national resilience strategy — one that can drive regional investment, create new industries, and strengthen fuel security.

Silvo Plus is addressing this opportunity by intending to develop drought-resilient feedstocks suited to Australia’s semi-arid grazing regions. By integrating tree crops such as pongamia into existing pastoral systems, we’re seeking to turn under-utilised land into a productive asset — enhancing soil health, supporting livestock operations and enabling farmers to participate in the global shift toward low-carbon fuels.
